Anonymous says: Not trying to stir trouble, but what makes shake it off different from the other pop songs out there by those manufactured pop artists?

palegingerbabiesasks:

Bc Taylor co-wrote/produced it. Bc the lyrics are about her life.

What makes Taylor’s music stand out from the others is that she just isn’t singing something someone else wrote and produced and having to try and pass it off as her experiences.

All of Taylor’s music is her truth. It’s her life. It’s her heartbreak. It’s her happiness. Taylor doesn’t have to try and make us believe what she’s singing bc we know that everything she singing comes from her heart. It’s her life. The good, bad, and ugly.

The probably with most artists is that they sing these songs and you can’t believe a word they are singing bc you know that it isn’t their life. That it isn’t their truth. They are just singing what’s popular. That’s it.

“Writing ‘Red’, I was 21 and 22 and back then I think my priorities were different. My priorities were, I was very enamored by romance and the idea of that. At 24, at this point, I’m just really like, I just want to be with my friends, and I wanna make music, and I wanna play shows, and I wanna travel the world, and I want to define my life on my own terms. That’s my list of priorities now which is different than it was a couple years ago.”
